Habitat for Humanity: How can I get involved and help the community with this shortage of housing?

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

Dear Shanon, How can I get involved and help the community with this shortage of housing?

Mark your calendar because this week is National Women Build Week! Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity has been a staple in Medford for the last thirty years by addressing the issues of poverty housing. They are an international, non-governmental, and nonprofit organization devoted to building "simple, decent and affordable" housing.

The “Women Build Program” challenges women to devote at least one day between now and May 14th in the effort to eliminate poverty housing.

This program is underwritten by Lowe’s and works to recruit, educate and nurture women to build—and advocate for—simple, decent and affordable homes in their communities. Women volunteers boost Habitat’s capacity to build more houses and serve more families. More than 1,800 “Women Build” homes have been built since the program began in 1998.

There is an information orientation meeting this week where they will share all of the details about how you and your girlfriends, co-workers, gym buddies, etc. can get involved! They will discuss the Lowe's Women Build Clinics, Women Build Week Schedule and Events (May 8-13), and also some fun and exciting fundraising opportunities. So bring your gal pals, roll up your sleeves and join in for a great KICK-OFF event! Drinks, refreshments, and PRIZES will be provided.
